I've renovated the previous postings here a little bit, moving the histories to topnotes, for instance, and removing the comments that contained that info before. I promise I'll try to make the essay published below look a little better soon, and I plan on putting up some other things here, some previously unpublished work, including the first few chapters of the novel ms. that's been my main project for the last 15 months or so. Hence the subtitle change from "published essays and stories" to just "writing."
I've been hiding out for a while, so it's time to take more risks.
